producing in san francisco

What producing in San Francisco involves.

Big conference weeks around Moscone Center fill hotels, crews and gear rental at the same time. We book early, and plan deliveries around street closures and security perimeters.

Street-level activations need city permits for street use and closures, plus a plan for power, weather and foot traffic. We start the approvals early, because they set the timeline.

Moscone and many downtown hotels work with union labor and exclusive in-house partners. We read the rules before we quote and build the schedule around them.

site visits

We see the venue before we plan the show.

Around Moscone, we walk the street as well as the venue: where barricades go, where power comes from and how a crowd moves through the block during a big conference week.

  • Walk the venue. Power, rigging points, sightlines, load-in path and where the crew can actually stage.
  • Meet the house team. In-house AV, the event manager and the engineer, before anyone signs.
  • Read the fine print. Labor rules, exclusives and fees go into the plan and the budget up front.

Big AV quotes are written by the company that sells the gear, the labor and the add-ons. We don't own a warehouse or rent equipment, so our only interest is the right show at a fair price. Send the plan or quote for your San Francisco show, or just get on a call. A producer takes a look and tells you honestly whether we can do it better. If we don't think so, we'll say that too.

San Francisco production questions.

Can you manage AV for an outdoor or street activation?

Yes. We managed AV and logistics for a week-long activation on Howard Street beside Moscone Center during Workday's flagship conference, including power, weather and security.

Do you work around Moscone Center during big conferences?

Yes. Those weeks fill hotels, crews and gear quickly, and bring street closures. We book early and plan load-ins around the closures.

How do travel costs work?

Everything, travel included, is scoped and priced before you approve the budget. We don't mark up travel. It's billed at cost, plus the necessary per diem. See where we produce. Bringing a Bay Area show to other cities? See multi-city roadshows.
